eguin Services, Inc., in a new partnership with The
Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Illinois Chapter offers a car donation
program for people interested in making tax-deductible Gift-in-Kind donations
of automobiles.
Automobiles donated through The Alzheimer’s Association
are sold by Seguin Services and the proceeds of the sale of donated cars come
to both organizations, with the Greater Illinois Chapter receiving 85 percent
of car sale proceeds for programs and services for people affected by
Alzheimer’s disease, and with Seguin Services receiving 15 percent of car sale
proceeds for programs that support children and adults with disabilities.
“We are pleased our partnership with Seguin Services is a
win-win situation for everyone,” said Kent Barnheiser, president and CEO of
the Greater Illinois Chapter. “Donors have a smooth-running car donation
experience working with professional and friendly staff and can feel good
knowing their cars will be sold at a licensed used car dealership to people
looking for reliable transportation at an affordable price. Donors also can
trust both of our organizations will use every cent we receive from the
proceeds of car sales in our respective to help improve quality of life for
Illinois families.”
Here’s what happens when you or a family member no longer
needs a car and donates it to the Alzheimer’s Association and Seguin
Services. Seguin staff receives the donated car and puts it up for sale at
The Auto Marketplace, its licensed used car dealership and a division of
SEGUINWORKS. Seguin staff provides donors with documentation of
the Gift-in-Kind transaction, notifying donors they received the donated car
and providing details about its sale, including the information about the car,
date of the sale and the selling price.
“The people who come to the Auto Marketplace to purchase
a car are looking for a vehicle at an affordable price to get them where they
need to go,” said Pete Rivera, Manager for the SEGUINWORKS Auto
Marketplace. “Recently, a woman from Hinsdale purchased a second car for her
family. Her daughter can now to drive to work on her own, and her sons – who
will be driving soon as well – will also have a means of transportation. This
woman and her daughter checked out the cars at the Auto Marketplace and found
one that matched their needs.”
The Seguin Services car donation program is registered
with the State of Illinois, maintains accurate and detailed records for all
donations, and exceeds Illinois requirements aimed at protecting donors and
